Developing a Script
Developing a Script
Most of the documentaries I analysed have a short introduction, which sets the tone for the whole video and establishes the fundamental message. As a whole, the opening sequence may include statistics, screen recordings and any other evidence to do with the chosen topic. It is important to research common findings within beginning, middle and ends of documentaries, to provide structure and eliminate straying too far from typical codes and conventions. To aid in my own script writing,
this website especially helped me prepare for and structure the process. It provides steps to help keep documentary makers organised, which have been extremely beneficial to me in this project.
Planning the interview questions will be the easiest part, so I am starting with this. To commence this process, I reflected on which answers would help answer "Who am I?" as this is the main question to be explored through this project. Some examples I came up with are:
- What made you want to start musical theatre?
- What is your favourite thing about doing it?
- Do you remember how you felt when seeing your first musical?
- How did you become aware of local theatre in the North East?
- Are you happy with the amount of Musical Theatre related activities that are available?
- Have there been any times where being from the North East has helped you in this sector?
- Is there anything you would change about it?
- Does musical theatre help shape your identity? If so, how?
