 Pre-production Documents



To ensure that all of my plans for the project can go ahead, it is important to prepare the correct paperwork to eliminate any problems that may arise. These can include scheduling conflicts within cast and crew, unsuitability for certain locations or cast not being permitted to film. Thorough paperwork will allow the whole production process to run smoothly.


Location Scouting

As I volunteer and am part of a local theatre group, I believe it will be suitable for me to conduct interviews that are held here, with other members of this group. This will also eliminate any problems that may arise from filming at an unknown location to me, which may be the process of getting permissions and. scheduling in time to film. I created a form that outlines the information of the location. As I am at this location frequently throughout my week, I believe it to be feasible and suitable for my project. It is indoors, offers good lighting and once again appropriate for my project.







Location Release

Once I had received permission from the owners of STAMP to film there, I received their help in completing this location release form.






Health and Safety

To ensure all participations in my project are safe, I conducted a risk assessment which outlined what may be a hazard and on what scale.

Second Interviews (28th April 2022)

Crew included:

  • Harvey - Interviewee

 As I was the only crew for these interviews, I was able to showcase other skills that I had not had a chance to do throughout this project. This also ensured I could set up in the way that I entirely wanted, with no conflicting crew.




Cast Permissions

Throughout the set up of the interviews and repeatedly through production, the cast were reminded that the interviews taking place were strictly for college purposes only and would only be shared in an educational setting. All cast allowed for the footage to be used in an Unlisted YouTube video.


This is a Contributor Release form for interviewee Lucy R, which is just proof of her consented participation in my project.

Production Diary  Completing all pre-production that is possible to do before production means that I can now start to put my product into place. My first advance into production will be organising interviews. 24th March 2022 After coming up with suitable interview questions, I sent them to my lecturer who will then pass them onto people studying Musical Theatre. Developing a Script

 Developing a Script Most of the documentaries I analysed have a short introduction, which sets the tone for the whole video and establishes the fundamental   message. As a whole, the opening sequence may include statistics, screen recordings and any other evidence to do with the chosen topic. It is important to research common findings within beginning, middle and ends of documentaries, to provide structure and eliminate straying too far from typical codes and conventions. To aid in my own script writing, this website   especially helped me prepare for and structure the process. It provides steps to help keep documentary makers organised, which have been extremely beneficial to me in this project. Planning the interview questions will be the easiest part, so I am starting with this. Final Product

 Final Product After receiving feedback, I prolonged the text shown on screen when the interviewees are being asked questions, made the volume of all clips as equal as possible, focusing on voiceovers and lowered the volume of music on interviews.  Link to final product:
